  • Aquanatal is an exercise class that takes place in a pool. It is a combination of aerobic exercises to work the cardiovascular system, as well as toning exercises that help to build muscular strength. There is also a relaxation element to the class.

  • Evidence shows there are many physical and mental health benefits to exercising in pregnancy and on the whole, it is safe for most pregnant women. For a small number of women, it is important for them to consult with their maternity provider first. At Hatched, we ensure you complete our screening form before joining a class, which will help to identify whether you need to seek further advice before starting aquanatal classes.

  • Whenever you like! As long as there are no medical reasons for you to avoid exercise, you can attend aquanatal at any stage of pregnancy. Whether you are in your first trimester, or approaching your due date, you can enjoy the benefits of exercising in water.

  • No, you can still attend if you are a non-swimmer or aren’t a confident swimmer. The pool is a standing depth which is ideal for aquanatal classes. However, please do let us know before joining a class so that you can be supported to feel comfortable and safe in the water.

  • A swimming costume to wear in the pool. Depending on your gestation, you may choose to invest in a maternity swimming costume that will feel comfortable as your bump grows. You may also wish to bring a water bottle with you, which you can bring poolside, to stay hydrated during the class.

  • Our classes run in blocks of 6 weeks. Unfortunately we are unable to refund a missed session as it is not possible to fill a vacant space on a weekly basis.
